Open AI assistant →Finished width controls the conversion
Linear length equals area divided by finished width. In the other direction, area equals linear length multiplied by finished width.
Examples
100 linear metres at 150 mm finished width cover 15 m². For 25 m² at 1.2 m width, the length is 20.8333 m.
Important limit
For cut strips, enter the final strip width rather than guessing from the original sheet dimensions.
Use material width, not perimeter
Square metres to linear metres answers how much length of a strip, roll, board or panel of known finished width is needed to cover an area. For example, 17 m² at 600 mm finished width requires about 28.33 linear metres. Thickness does not change this conversion. If you need edging, skirting or a boundary around an area, m² alone is not enough because that is a perimeter problem. For fixed-length boards, divide the required linear metres by the board length and round up to whole pieces.
