    FAQ

    What is CPS?

CPS stands for clicks per second. It is the number of mouse clicks you register during a test divided by the test length in seconds. Average CPS is the smoothed score; peak CPS is the highest count recorded in any single one-second window.

What is a typical CPS score?

A casual user usually clicks around 4 to 7 CPS. Regular gamers fall in the 7 to 10 CPS range. Competitive players often reach 10 to 14 CPS with standard clicking. Scores above 14 CPS usually rely on jitter or butterfly clicking techniques.

    How can I click faster?

Keep your hand relaxed and use the whole forearm rather than tensing a single finger. Short practice sessions of 10 to 30 seconds preserve stamina. Make sure the mouse button has a short travel distance; sticky or worn switches cap your rate.

What is jitter clicking and butterfly clicking?

Jitter clicking uses controlled forearm tremor to produce very fast clicks on a single button and can reach 12 to 16 CPS. Butterfly clicking uses two fingers alternating on one button and can exceed 20 CPS. Both can cause strain with prolonged use.

Does the mouse affect my score?

Yes. A light switch with short actuation and a high polling rate lets every click register. Optical switches tend to outperform traditional mechanical ones in fast clicking scenarios because they avoid debounce delays.

    Is the measurement accurate?

The test counts every mouse or touch event the browser fires and times them with the performance clock. Browser throttling on background tabs can affect very short runs, so keep the tab focused during a test. Peak CPS is computed over a sliding one-second window.

The Click Speed Test counts how many times you click a button within a chosen time window and reports your clicks per second (CPS). Pick a duration of 1, 5, 10, 30, 60 or 100 seconds, press Start, then click the large button as fast as you can. The tool shows total clicks, the averaged CPS across the run and the peak CPS measured inside a sliding one-second window so short bursts are captured.

Example: in a 10-second run with 82 clicks the average CPS is 8.2 and the peak might read 11 if you spiked inside one of those seconds. Each completed attempt is saved locally per duration and the top 5 per bucket form a personal leaderboard. Keyboard users can trigger clicks with Space or Enter while the button is focused.
