Convert centimeters to square meters by entering the width and length of a rectangle. Pick the input unit (mm, cm, dm, m, in or ft) and the area appears instantly in m², cm², mm², ft² and in². The cost estimator multiplies area by your price per m² and adds an optional waste percentage for tiles, flooring or wallpaper.
For cm to m² you need two dimensions. Enter length and width in centimeters; the calculator converts both sides to meters and multiplies them. Formula: m² = (cm ÷ 100) × (cm ÷ 100). Example: 120 cm × 150 cm = 1.8 m².

Add waste % for cuts and breakage. Tile and flooring usually 5–10%.

Frequently asked questions
Multiply width in centimeters by length in centimeters, then divide by 10,000. The formula is A = (W × L) / 10,000, where A is the area in square meters and W, L are the two sides in centimeters. Example: a 250 cm by 400 cm rug is 250 × 400 / 10,000 = 10 m².
Because 1 meter = 100 cm, one square meter equals 100 × 100 = 10,000 square centimeters. Multiplying two sides in cm gives an area in cm²; dividing that by 10,000 converts it to m².
Yes. Switch the input unit at the top of the calculator to mm, cm, dm, m, in or ft. The calculator converts automatically and shows the result in m², cm², mm², ft² and in² at the same time.
1 m² = 10,000 cm² = 1,000,000 mm² ≈ 10.7639 ft² ≈ 1,550 in². Use the chips below the main result to copy any of these units to the clipboard.
Enter the room width and length in cm to get area in m². Then open the cost estimator, type the price per m² and add a waste percentage (5–10% is common for tiles, 7–15% for diagonal patterns). The calculator multiplies area by price and waste so you see the total cost.
Switch the calculator mode to «Area & Width → Length». Enter the target area (in the selected unit) and the known width — the calculator returns the missing length using L = A / W.
It is exact for rectangles. For an L-shape or step, split the room into rectangles, calculate each one, then add the results. For circles or curves, use a dedicated area calculator. The perimeter shown below the result is also based on a rectangle.
Results are based on rectangular geometry. Round up materials by your standard waste allowance before ordering.
How It Works
The formula is A = (W × L) / 10,000, where A is the area in m², and W and L are the two sides in centimeters. One square meter equals 100 × 100 = 10,000 cm², which is why we divide by ten thousand.
Examples
Tile floor: a 350 × 480 cm room = 350 × 480 / 10,000 = 16.8 m².
Wallpaper strip: 53 × 1000 cm roll = 53 × 1000 / 10,000 = 5.3 m² per roll.
Glass sheet: 120 × 80 cm cut = 120 × 80 / 10,000 = 0.96 m².
