This calculator helps you accurately convert common baking ingredients from volume (US cups) to weight (grams) and vice versa. Since ingredients have different densities, measuring by weight is more precise for baking. This tool simplifies that process.
The conversion is based on the following formulas:
- Weight (g) = Volume (cups) × Ingredient Density (g/cup)
- Volume (cups) = Weight (g) / Ingredient Density (g/cup)
To use it, first select an ingredient from the dropdown list. Then, enter a value in either the grams field or the cups field to instantly see the converted amount.
Example of calculation:
Let's say a recipe calls for 2 cups of all-purpose flour, and you want to measure it in grams.
- Choose All-Purpose Flour from the ingredient list.
- Enter 2 in the "Volume (US Cups)" field.
- The calculator will show the result: 240 g in the "Weight (g)" field, based on the density of flour (120 g/cup).
