How to Calculate Ellipsoid Volume in Imperial Units
Determine the volume of an ellipsoid using semi-axes in inches or feet. The formula V = (4/3)πabc gives volume in cubic feet and gallons.
Example: an egg-shaped tank with semi-axes 5 ft, 3 ft, and 2.5 ft holds about 157 ft³ (1,175 gallons). A smaller vessel 24×18×12 inches holds approximately 18.8 gallons.
Applicable to oval tanks, ellipsoidal pressure vessels, and rounded containers.
