How to Calculate Horizontal Elliptic Tank Volume
Compute volume of a horizontal tank with an elliptical cross-section. Enter the width (major axis), height (minor axis), tank length, and current fill level.
Example: an elliptic tank 1.5 m wide, 1.0 m high, and 3 m long holds about 3,534 liters full. At 0.3 m fill height it contains approximately 620 liters.
Elliptic cross-sections are common in underground storage tanks and transport tankers where height clearance is limited.
