Tips
On a standard American tape measure, the length of marks indicates their value: the longest are whole inches, then come 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and the shortest are 1/16.
Fraction → decimal: Result = Whole + (Numerator ÷ Denominator)
Example: 5 5/8 = 5 + (5 ÷ 8) = 5.625"
