Stacked Firewood Volume Calculator

Calculate stacked firewood volume in cubic meters from the measured length, average height and depth.

Stacked firewood volume
This is stack space, including air gaps—not solid wood volume.

Metric stack formula

Stacked volume = length × average height × depth. Measure all dimensions in meters to get stacked cubic meters.

Stacked volume is not solid wood

The result includes bark and air gaps between pieces. There is no universal conversion to solid-wood volume because piece diameter, straightness, splitting and stacking change the amount of air. Use a documented local conversion factor only when a contract or supplier provides one.

Cord comparison

For comparison, one US cord occupies 128 stacked cubic feet, equal to approximately 3.6246 stacked cubic meters. This comparison does not change the packing of the stack.
